The Honorable Megan L. Simpson was recently appointed by Governor Mary Fallin to serve as the new Associate District Judge for Harper County, Oklahoma.  I congratulate her on the new position.

I practice law mainly in Guymon, Oklahoma and the surrounding communities of Texas County, Oklahoma, but I also practice routinely in the other two counties in the Oklahoma Panhandle – Beaver County to the East and Cimarron County to the West.  Harper County is to the East of Beaver County, and because of the distance from Guymon, I practice in Harper County less frequently.

Cimarron, Texas, Beaver, and Harper Counties are all in the First Judicial District in Oklahoma.  Judge Greg A. Zigler is currently the presiding District Judge in all four counties in the First Judicial District.  I appear in front of Judge Zigler routinely, but the Associate District Judge in these counties is the Judge I most often appear in front of – particularly in probate and estate types of matters.

I was a colleague of Megan L. Simpson when she worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the First Judicial District and as a classmate in the first Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy.  I now look forward to practicing in front of her as Judge Simpson.
