A groundbreaking ceremony on the Golden Mesa Casino took place recently in Guymon.  The Guymon Chamber of Commerce and the Guymon Ambassadors took part in the event.

Former U.S. Representative and current President of the Department of Commerce, Corporate Development for the Chickasaw Nation Dan Boren emceed the event.  Chief Ron Sparkman of the Shawnee Tribe, Governor Bill Anoatubby of the Chickasaw Nation, CEO Skip Seeley of Global Gaming Solutions, former Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry, former Oklahoma Secretary of Finance Preston Doerflinger, Governer Mary Fallin’s Chief of Staff Chris Benge, and many other dignitaries visited this area for the event – with several addressing the crowd.  Many local officials and residents took part.  Urban Bru catered the event.

The Golden Mesa Casio project has been a controversial and high-profile issue in Guymon and the Oklahoma Panhandle region for some time.  This groundbreaking seems to indicate a substantial step forward in the project.
