Recently I was able to attend the 2013 OBA Solo & Small Firm Conference.  I have attended this conference several times, but this year was the first time in several years.  I encourage attorneys to consider going for several main reasons.

First of all, it is great to catch up with old friends and colleagues – as well as meet new ones.  Second, there is good substantive CLE on various legal topics.

Third, and of particular emphasis, the technology presentations are top-notch and very helpful, particularly for practicing attorneys who may not have a lot of time to focus on technology.  I have benefitted greatly from this emphasis at the conferences through the years.

This year, the main technology presenters were: Jim Calloway (blog: http://jimcalloway.typepad.com) the director of the Oklahoma Bar Association Management Assistance Program and a major reason the technology part of the conference is so good year after year; Debbie Foster (LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/debbiefoster), a Partner in Affinity Consulting Group, a full-service technology consulting company; and Jeffrey Taylor (blog: www.thedroidlawyer.com), a practicing attorney in Oklahoma and avid blogger.  These speakers gave helpful presentations and were gracious enough to spend a lot of time answering questions from attendees like myself both during sessions and throughout the conference.  I want to especially thank Jeff for suffering through several of my questions.
