Many people feel like they need to have every detail figured out and every possibility accounted for. If you wait on that you, you will likely never get estate planning done. A better approach is to make the best plan you can now. Knowing you can change or redo your plan as life changes.

Do Not Wait on Perfect Understanding

Many people do not plan because they feel like they do not understand all the legal terms and intricacies of the legal systems. If you wait on that, you will likely never get estate planning done. It is great to learn and educate yourself. But a better approach is to find an experienced, professional attorney you are comfortable working with as you learn. They can help you with overall understanding as well and specific questions.

Do Not Wait on a Perfect Time

If you have an upcoming move or other unusual life circumstances, waiting temporarily to finalize an estate plan may make sense. But often if you wait for what feels like the perfect time, you will likely never get estate planning done. A better approach is to get a plan down. You can always be rethinking it and refining it as life goes on. But it is always almost better to have a plan than not if something unexpected happens.
