14th Oct 2022

The Guymon Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual banquet last night at the rodeo grounds. The theme was Vegas Style. There were lots of great table decorations. Blackjack, drawings, and other games to enter and play. Great food catered by Susan Barias and crew. It’s always a fun evening to get out and catch up with some people you have not seen in a while, as well as meet some new folks.

A few pictures of the event that I took or people sent me are below. If you have some good ones, post them or send them to me if you want them added here.

Awards

Several awards were given out to honor excellence in our community. I had the privilege of presenting a couple. At the risk of forgetting one: Paul Montgomery was chosen Ambassador of the Year. J.J. Palacios was given Volunteer of the Year. Small business of the Year was Fisch & Hitch. Fred Hintergardt was honored as Citizen of the Year. A new designation of Children’s Champion was given to Jodi Josserand.

OPSU won the Table Decoration and the big trophy that comes with that. That was their five-peat for winning the last five years in a row! (Let’s see if we can all give them a run for their money next year.) Dr. Blanton was also the emcee.

Jada Breeden won the costume contest, and Brown and Associates won the group costume contest.

I will say a few extra words about fellow Ambassador Paul Montgomery. The award is well deserved, sir. Paul steps up in numerous ways including keeping points for our group, working hard on all our projects, and being involved in the community outside Ambassadors. Pleasure to serve with you, and again congrats.

Leadership Guymon Graduates

We’ve been following the Leadership Guymon Class of 2022 along their journey, such as here and here. Last night they graduated. They were introduced to the banquet and given some awards. They are now working on a group project to give back.

I hope you guys had a great time. I know if you search, you can find something you enjoy and are good at – that also makes our community a better place. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks to Everyone

Thanks to the Board of Directors, Ambassadors, sponsors, decorators, setter-uppers, cleaner-uppers, and all sorts of volunteers and community members that help make it happen!
